HOW TO: THE CHIC CHIGNON

Wedding season is just around the corner so it is time to start prepping your outfit, shoes and hair ready for the big day. Stylist Amy Russell from the Paul Mitchell UK Artistic Team talks you through this elegant DIY wedding style to make sure you feel and look your best for the big day.

MUST HAVE PRODUCTS:

Step 1: Spray Dry Wash all over dry hair for added volume and texture.

Step 2: Decide where you want the bun to sit - to the side, in the centre, high up or low down - it’s up to you! I personally love this look low down and to the side.

Step 3: Pull the hair into a ponytail in where desired and secure with an elastic.

Step 4: Start taking sections of hair from the ponytail and twisting them. Once twisted simply pinch the end of the strand in one hand and push the hair towards the head with the other.  This will expand the hair, which you can then pin discretely to the head.  

Step 5: Continue to pinch, push and secure sections until you run out of hair, remember that you are trying to create a round bun, so be sure to secure the sections around the ponytail and then fill in any gaps.

Tip: To create maximum texture and movement, twist the hair in alternating directions!

Step 6: Once all the hair is secured spray with Super Clean Extra, a quick drying spray with flexible resins to allow you to continue to manipulate the hair.

Step 7: Check for balance and proportion - look at the hair from all angles and check that the shape is as you desire.  If not, simply start moving the hair where you want it, pinning it into place to create the perfect messy bun.

Step 8: Complete the look by using Awapuhi Wild Ginger Finishing Spray for a firm hold, natural finish with the added benefit of Awapuhi for an extra boost of moisture!
