GUEST POST: LAURA'S LITTLE LOCKET, VALENTINE'S STYLE INSPIRATION
I love playing around with my hair and often get a few questions about it so I thought I’d dedicate a post to hair, just in time for Valentine's Day.
Starting right from the beginning then….
Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two – a deep cleansing shampoo, I literally couldn’t live without.
Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Conditioner – a hydrating and repairing conditioner for blonde hair
Awapuhi Wild Ginger Styling Treatment Oil – I apply this to wet hair, it smoothes frizz and provides hydration
I then apply heat protector; I usually use Heat Seal on wet hair and Hot Off The Press on dry hair. I have recently been trying to give myself a ‘proper’ blow dry with a big round brush but I find it so hard and aches my arms…. But it does smooth my blonde Hagrid frizz ball down!
I love to wear my hair wavy, but because my natural hair is quite frizzy and ‘puffy’ I like to straighten before I curl/wave. I know that sounds mad but it works for me. So I straighten my hair with my 6 year old trusty smoothing irons, then wave….
I have tried a few different tools for this and the best I have found is the Neuro Unclipped Styling Rod. I have tried waving with irons but I just can’t get the hang of it. You can change the heat setting dependant upon how stubborn your hair is! I do like to hike up the heat to 210 degrees, the max temp is 230 degrees.
I section my hair and start at the bottom, curling the hair away from my face. If you follow this on both sides, you get even waves! A little tip someone told me, which I am still trying to perfect, is, with each strand you curl, don’t curl the top and don’t curl the bottom, try and just get the middle bit. This does give the Caroline Flack wave I’m always trying to achieve but it does take a bit of practice! So don’t curl the wand all the way to the root and make sure you leave the end bit sticking out a little.
Once you have curled and waved away, run your fingers through your hair breaking up the curls/waves and mess it all up a little, at this point you can spray Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray or just finish with Stay Strong hair spray.
And voila - you are date night ready!
